My new XCR

I've been thinking about getting an ar15 for about $700-800.

I would like to get an ar15 for it's historical value but I think an XCR would be cooler :) and would be a better rifle over all. But it costs...ALOT.....and comes with no sights unless you buy them.

I have questions, is the mag release ambidextrous? Also, is it long stroke or short stroke?

Oh my... one of those dangerous "assault weapons".

With those high capacity "clips"...

Just kidding (though I threw up in my mouth typing that).

Very nice rifle, yes amash.

I'm in canada, it's an 18.6" barreled vz58, known up here as a vz-858. I have two of em. We're not allowed to have ak's up here, but ARs, XCRs, and VZs are ok.

mag release is not ambi, its basically identical to an AR. it is a long stroke piston, whereas the vz is short stroke. Just so you guys know, that vz with 4 mags, bayo, sling and mag pouch cost me 650$ Cdn. The AR was 1600$ Cdn, and the XCR, with flip up irons and one mag was 2400$ Cdn. I would jump on a $700 american made AR (we can get 750$ norinco ARs up here).

Cheers guys!

Wow I guess I got catch up on other countries gun laws, I had no idea you could own AR's or the like in Canada! For some reason I thought things were a lot stricter up there!

Oh and congrats on the new rifle, looks sweet!

Lol B.R., don't ask, you don't want to know. AR is already 'restricted' so it doesn't matter how short the barrel gets, until it's 106mm or less. Others are non-restricted, and NR semi-autos need to have that barrel length, or they become 'restricted'. But a non-semi-auto cener-fire long-gun can have any barrel length, as long as the barrel came that way from the manufacturer, and the OAL is 660mm or more - hence 10,12, and 14" 870s.

Thanks lucky. I didn't feel like explaining all the b.s laws we have to deal with. Let's just say I can only use my AR at the range, while I can use my vz/xcr/ 14" pump shotgun anywhere, and hunt with them.

The vertical grip/bipod is called a Grippod. The real thing costs around $150; but you can also find Airsoft knock-offs for considerably cheaper (different plastics, less sturdy, more finely threaded screw that strips easily from what I've read)

yup, Mr. Roberts is right. That one is a real grip pod. cost me 200$ from Mil-arm in edmonton. I love the thing. My only gripe is that the foregrip is fairly large, but then again, it does have a bipod inside it.

Basically, if I mounted a smaller foregrip and a normal bipod, it would weigh more and be more cluttered than what I have now.

I can say this, the grip pod is STURDY. I don't even have the aluminum one either. Cheers guys.
