Sweet! The M48's are - IMHO - the best looking of the Mausers.

How's the barrel on yours? I ask as I snagged one off a gunshow walker - great cosmetics but at this gunshow the actions were zip-tied shut...

Get home and surprise, surprise Sgt Carter! the gunwalker shot it but apparently never cleaned it. I have a gorgeous rifle with a sewer-pipe barrel from the cheap corrosive 8mm.

Maybe 100rds of FMJ will help things out.

Looks good. Did you get everything with it? Mine came in a box all matching numbers with everything it was originally issued with and 1000 yds. Such a cool solid battle rifle. Have a ton of fun my friend

Those rifles are extremely accurate, my cousin and i in a stupid moment out on the river banks one day decided that a buoy out on the river looked like a good target :banghead: we ranged it at just over 1000yds so like 1000m it was a nice clear morning with glass like water and took him 7 shots walking it up on the sights to hit that thing, once we heard the the loud ring it made got out of there drivin like the duke boys :D

In my rather biased opinion, the Yugo Mausers are one of the best deals out there. I picked up one of the M24/47s (the M48s predecessor) and as they were all rearsenaled it is a beauty (the rifling/bore are as picture perfect as newly manufactured firearm I own). The thing is a ray gun as well...hits anything hard and accurately. Enjoy your new rifle and here's it's distant cousin:

How about a photo of the floor plate and trigger. That well confirm if it's a M48A or M48B. Both are marked M48A at the receiver ring but the B has a stamped floor plate and trigger guard. True M48A's are less common than M48A(B)'s.

Very nice. I got mine by "accident" a few years ago and could not imagine not owning one now. Good luck and enjoy.

Theres rifles were resurrected from their cosmolene state and given to villagers during the civil wars in former Yugoslavia. They are tough and rugged rifles that shined during this turbulent times in their history. The same goes seeing the Yugo version of SKSs, AKs and many other weaponry .
