I finally got to shoot my new rifle today. Wow, is it good.
Tikka T3 Tactical, .308 caliber, 24" heavy barrel, muzzle brake, 2 magazines. Burris Extreme Tactical 3-12x50mm Scope. Illuminated ballistic mil-dot.
I have shot some nice rifles before, including an expensive custom sniper with Leupold scope that I used for a 3 day sniper school course that I attended.
This Tikka/Burris combo is a pleasure to shoot. It fits me perfectly, very little recoil, beautiful trigger. The detachable magazines worked fine.
It was windy at the range today with heavy gusts. I shot Federal Gold Medal Match in 168 and 175 grain, Black Hills Win Match 175 grain and Lake City M118. From best to worst it was Federal 175, then 168 then Black Hills then Lake City a distant 4th.
I used Federal American Eagle to initially sight the rifle in, then switched to the good stuff.
For my last 15 shots of the day using the Federal Gold Medal Match 175, 11 were inside an inch (5 of them were all inside one larger hole) and the other 4were about 1-1/2 inch. Not bad considering the wind gusts.
I am enclosing some pics.
