Well I have three handguns Im really interested in and I cant decide which one I will get first.

1. S&W 642....I want this for an easy CCW to tote around. Sometimes at night I will run down to the store real quick and I dont want to have to put my G23 on. With this snub, I could just throw it in my pocket (with a holster) and go. But I already have a good CCW, so its not a real need.

2. Berreta 92FS...I want to use this as a range gun. I shoot them very well and ammo is cheap. This would also double as a HD weapon to back up my Glock as something for my wife.

3. Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt...This would be an outdoors gun for when I go hiking/camping. I dont trust my G23 to really stand up against a mountain lion or in the rare case a bear.

So what do you all think I should get first?

Keep an eye out for all three and whichever one you find the best deal on first should be the one you buy first.

If you like the 92 (my vote), maybe you should look at CZ-75s? Cheaper, well made---and the version with an acc. rail makes me drool (balances well--to me, aesthetically pleasing). Just a thought.

I wouldn't get the 642 if you like the G-23:neener:. I'm getting rid of alot of guns I don't/didn't need but tried to justify buying for whatever reason or another. Pretty much like you are trying to justify buying a gun on a particular reason. Did I make any sense on that one. What I mean is buy the gun you'll use the most. I to have a glock for CCW which mine is a G-19. I also have a 642. Now guess what one I USE the most? Since buying my 642, I haven't done anything with the glock except take it to the range and also take shooting classes with it. You'll get the most use and the most out of your money if you get the 642.

Flip.

I have to vote for the 642 since I just bought one. Very nice. I havn't found to many women who think the 92 is a good fit for them.

I vote the Blackhawk in .45LC.
You have squid cowboy loads for the range. For woods carry or hunting, you have quality heavy loads that equal and surpass the .44mag.

What flip said. Get the gun you'll use the most. For me, it's a 642. How do I use it?
* I carry it every day.
* Since I carry it, I practice with it. I've got a paper target thumb-tacked to a wall in my basement and practice dry-firing there.
* I've got more powerful guns stashed away than the 642, but the 642 is always "out" when I am home (since I carry it). Since it's closest, it will be the gun I grab first for home defense.
* At the range, I do not find this gun uncomfortable to shoot with regular .38s or +Ps. It is a pleasure. I wish I had more money for ammo.

I have to confess that my 642 is equipped with CTC laser grips, which make it a completely different gun: it makes accurate point-shooting a very real possibility. I've also saved a ton of money because I don't have to buy ammo to get valuable practice.

So get the 642 (first) and some CTC grips.

hard to really pick just one, you got good reasons for all 3. I voted for the 92fs. Be nice for your wife to have a piece when your not around.

Vote: S&W 642

I own a Beretta 92S, yes the original "S" version. I'm waiting on an ordered S&W 642. I owned a Blackhawk (.44) in the 80's and they'd be difficult to carry concealed IMO.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!! As of my vote, the poll is split exactly 3 ways. That is very, very funny, given he can't make up his mind!

I'd go with the Blackhawk, since your 23 could fill roles 1 & 2. But as posted earlier, if you see a great deal on one of the others, snag it while you can.:)

I was torn between the 92fs & the 642 but when it was all said and done, I voted for the 92fs...I've just been such a fan of those guns over the years & my 2 have been great performers.

92FS

alot of aftermarket parts and reasonably priced magazines, both factory and some decent aftermarket offerings.

Managable recoil and cost of ammo as well as diffrent types of ammo (mission-specific i guess you could say).

My next purchase will be a crimson trace grip set...my GF has um...taken possession of my Beretta due to it having more bangs than her little 5 shot 38 Rossi that her dad gave her...plus she is more accurate with the 92 as well.
