This is the rifle I asked for advice and value about on a post on Wednesday. I am still new to the Garand so let me know if I messed up and while your at it was this a good deal? I hope to use your replies to convince my wife it was a bargain to good to pass up. If not she wants me to cancel my order for two field grades. I can not let that happen, I don't think I could sleep at night knowing that they were orphaned!
Total cost 650.00. Here is what I have learned about it so far. The stock has been replaced. It was rebuilt at Letterkenny. The hand guards do not appear to have been be replaced when the stock was. There are no dents or gouges in the wood, there is a nice walnut finish under all the grunge. Right now the stock is sort of a chocolate brown. In one of the pictures of the butt it's true color is showing. The pictures are as I got it. I have not cleaned anything. It has apparently sat for quite a while even the barrel is full of dust. No cosmline. If anybodyspot's an error in anything or stuff I missed let me know. I used Joe Poyers book when looking up the part's I checked.

Receiver Lead Annealed
Barrel Feb. 1943 I do not have gauges. One of the pic's shows the bullet test. Visually even through the dust clean clear rifling. And no muzzle damage.
Uncut Op Rod D35382 9 SA, I think it should be 6 SA
Bolt D28287 12SA
Lock Bar Sights - No clue what type, I'll tackle that tomorrow.
The Gas Cylinder screw is wrong. Cross slot instead of single slot.
The trigger group is correct.
The only finish missing is around the front sight and front swivel and gas cylinder.
Here are the pictures. I will take a couple in daylight outdoors this weekend.

. And it was a mix-N-matcher. If it shows well on the muzzle gauge, then I'd say you got a heck of a deal.
