Spring oiling time again. To my horror I noticed I did not bring up my latest TC .32 rifle I purchased this winter from where I had it delivered in Ca. :(
From top , My .433" bored (".45" } Hopkins and Allen bull gun target rifle I bought from a very old Army colonel. I got all the possibles he had for it and a big stash of balls and bullets ect. including the first place Trophies he won for 5 years straight in German/US competitions in the 70s . It IS a one holer at 50 yards and a moa ir less from the bench up to 200 yards.
second gun is a beautifully made and wonderful shooting 28" Miroku made in 80s "Hawken" .50 I got very reasonable. I replaced this over my California mantle piece with the CVA flint Blunderbus . It is an excellent shooter and matches my Lyman Plains Pistol .50 .
Bottom my "hunting" .50 Lyman which has taken two buck and more does in special seasons in California. It is my go to Stalker. Very accurate and light being it is the rare "lightweight" half round version.

Very nice guns Gordon.
I've never seen that Miroku Hawken model before.
Does it have conventional rifling like most Hawkens or a different style?
I'll bet that the H&A is tight to load.
Do you use a mallet to start a PRB with that?
And I notice that the H&A has 2 sets of rear sights which should be handy for shooting at different yardages and situations.
Thanks for giving us a peek at a few of your smoke poles.

The Miroku Hawken is actually a Sears Roebuck commisioned one from mid 70s, I made a mistake saying early 80s. It is very pretty on display and has 6 groove conventional 1/48" rifling and shoots very well with .490 round ball and the sights are excellent. The H&A does require a short starter Ball device and requires a palm firm push. Then the ramrod , which is hardwood, easily pushes ball down to the powder chamber which allows up to 50 3F Swiss or olde Ensford grain charges . The ram rod is calibrated The gun shoots a .433" ball with .010" precut lanolin lubed patch as it's sweet load. As pictured the muti diopter peep sight is sighted in at 200 yards which is 7 " high at 100 yards .

That top one's a special piece and a cool back-story to boot.

Todd.

Nice rifles.

After this corona thing is over and done with I need to get my H&A Heritage model out. I haven't fired it since the 90s. It liked 40 to 50 grains of 3Fg under a .440 RB patched in pillow ticking.

After this corona thing is over and done with...

That's the beginning of my "mantra" too.
I have an old GM .58 caliber barrel, and with the money I'm saving not going to living history events and not shooting in modern pistol matches..., I think I will have to build something with it. I have no memory of why I ordered it, 25 years ago....

So I think what I shall do is turn it into an Underhammer Rifle, though I will shorten it to 36". Then I think I shall send it to my brother Mike in New Mexico. He's a Southpaw, but his three boys are not, and an underhammer would be just the thing for them to share. He goes for Elk from time to time, and it's high time he turned to the Holy Black , and the joys of round-ball.

The rest of the barrel I will have breeched, and turned into a barrel for something like this...,

I like the look of your rifles. Obviously they are getting the kind of care they deserve. Thanks for sharing.

Are most H & A underhammer rifles accurate or is the top one special? I always thought they looked interesting but never used one.

If you ever get tired of that .50 Lyman I might be interested.
