Well, kinda sorta. I haven;t been there in tweo months, but it seems that the local plinking range is covered under 4 feet of snow :what:

I thought that something would still be there to shoot at, but it is near impossible to find any targets when they are buried that deep.

Oh well, got a nice long snowshoe walk in, and got to shoot at some sticks.

get some spinner targets.

build your own target stand. work on shooting while on the move. get as ninja as you can get with no one around to make fun of you.

While wearing all white, practice shooting and moving and right before you trip over those snow shoes at the top of your lungs scream NINJA VANISH!

Spider holes are easy to dig in the snow.

Also, you could do penetration tests for us.
ie.How far will an /06,fired from a submerged Garand, travel through snow.
Might need alot of patience finding the bullet though.

:neener:

Actually, I did dig out some SKS bullets the other day. They penetrated far less than I would have expected, the farthest was 16" or so, and most were about 12".

Darkmind - I don't need encouragement or crazy ideas. I may just be stupid enough to try it

Dang, I was prepared to extend my sympathies due to suburban rezoning or some such foolishness, but geez, there's only 33 days till Spring . . . Oooops, I just noticed where you're located, make that 33 days 'till the Equinox, youse Michiganders don't get no Spring for another 93 days :neener:

Move South, boy. It was 60 here today (well, it is a bit higher than everage, but winter is mostly an inconvenience here, it'll be mostly done by St Paddy's Day.

Don't worry. It'll be back in a few months.

Unlike my favorite plinking range and dove/hungarian hunting range, which is permanently gone due to development. All those Californians coming to Idaho... :cuss:

Reminds me of my old favorite bumper sticker. "Don't Californicate Idaho."

(Will that make it past the "Art's gramma censors?)

Not too worried about the cold or the snow, just that all the stuff I shoot (which I didn't put there, BTW, and would clean up if I had a car that could get there) at is buried under the snow :banghead:

Actually, come to think about it, I like being able to stand on four feet of snow and shoot :) Especially when I hear people complain that at 40 it is too cold to go shooting :D

Dave - I hear you. Went home for Christmas, now there is a road about 30 yards from where I normally deer hunt :cuss: Supposedly, there is a golf course going in sometime in the next few years.

Supposedly, there is a golf course going in sometime in the next few years.

Now you need a long range rifle(I refuse to say sn****r :cuss: )!

I work with a couple of guys that have access to a golf course during firearms season. They look at is as a cornfield w/benches & golfcarts instead of treestands & ATVs.

Oh yeah,& the 19th hole is right close too. :)

Out on some state land. We found it while out hunting one day, there was a guy shooting there. Told us that there were a bunch of people that used it. Just a small clearing with a cutoff hill downrange. Not more that 50 yards or so at the longest point. PM me if you want any more info.

Accross the road from Dad's farm is a golf course. Used to shoot many deer off the corn that used to grow there. Dad's waiting for the right time to run to the bank.............. :)

Neighbor hunts on Golf course up Nort, nice "deer" trails with easy dragging

Tony

BTW, .243 sp ammo will stop within 20" of normal snow.
