I just bought [ have to pick it up ] THE revolver that I have wanted for about 25 years.

Its a pristine S&W model 13 with a 3" barrel.

It was FBI issue back in the wheel gun days [ while I was an LEO ].

I believe its about 95+ % and I need to shoot it and then carry her.

SOOOO looking forward to this pistol.

Gotta see what grips I am going to use, thinking Jerry Miculek's ?.

Well it's about time!

That's one of my favorite guns. I had my armorer bob and grind mine a long time ago. They are good fighting guns.

I am a big fan of the old K frame S&W revolver. I have a 3 inch 13-2 round butt that I bought new about 32 years ago. Its still a sweet shooting machine. I found a nickel plated 3 inch 13-3 round butt about 3 years ago that was a safe queen that didn't look like it had been fired since it left the factory. This size revolver carries well and packs quite a punch, I've carried my 13-2 many a mile in the south Texas brush country and I always kept it handy when I had a job in a rough part of town. They don't make them like they used to!

I have a 13-4 that I love when I get to shoot it.

The model 13 with a 3" barrel is one of the best K frame guns ever made. As I sit here in my Den just a few feet away is my model 13, one of my house guns loaded with 125gr 357 magnums. Great balance and power are its strong suits.

Thanks y'all.

I only have 1 other K frame and that is the HB 4" that I carried when I was sworn in as LEO 4/5/82.

We were allowed to buy them from the dept [ that wont happen again ] and they charged us $ 75.00.

Still a favorite house gun and one that I trust.

Cant wait till I get my mitts on the 13 !!.

Nice gun but alloy-framed version called Model 12 is even better. It is the only gun better then my compact Glock pistol. If that guy still has 4" skinny barrel RB at next show I will buy it from him.

Model 12 better than a Model 13?,,,

I own a 4" Model 12,,,
It is a very nice revolver,,,
But I can't see it as "better" than a Model 13.

For one thing it's a .38 Special,,,
The Model 13 is chambered for .357 magnum.

It's certainly lighter to carry than other steel K-frames,,,
I made a shoulder holster for mine and often forget I'm wearing it.

My personal collection list is almost complete,,,
A nice specimen of a Model 13 remains as yet unfulfilled.

Nice purchase my friend,,,

Sounds like we both lucked out. I just got a LNIB 13-4 a couple of weeks ago. Got a set of Ahrends boot grips off eBay from gripseller for $60. They came in today and I am really impressed.

"It places the lotion into the basket."

The 3" 13 is one of my grail revolvers. Why Smith chose to quit making them is beyond me.

To those that "feel me" thanks.

To those that do get it = THANK YOU,I fully understand the newbie attraction to the plastic wonders [ I own 6 Glocks ].

And a total of about 40 handguns too.

the wheel gun that was my GOTTA HAVE is only a day away from my paws, and oh boy is she gonna get rid hard & put up wet !!

Want the pictures as well...

Took this 4" Nickel out today for the first time. Never shot a fixed sight K frame before.

Must say that is shot very well - shooting hedge apples was fun. I love it. Missed a 3" blued before I was smart enough to know what I missed. Glad you got one.

This one is a lot dirtier now.

Model 13's are about my all-time favorite S&W wheelguns. Right on par with the Speed Six really, but harder to find with that short bbl.

AHHH, Speed Six is a MUST have and I will find one of those too.

Seems that I own more than a few .357's and both S&W as well as Rugers.

The security six 2 3/4" is a hoot to shoot,BUT its not a Speed Six = !!

I have smaller hands and the round butt is THE gun for me.
