My Ruger LCR locked up!!!

I am perplexed - before he dry-fired it, the LCR was NIB at a dealer, right? So, the dry-firing killed it? I have dry-fired new Rugers, SP101, RH, & SRH, and all of my S&Ws - never a 'jam'. I have replaced many a trigger return spring in my S&W's (In fact, I just replaced the one in my new UDR PC627 last night.) with lighter springs. I shoot mainly DA - slow to fast, I've never 'tied up' or jammed an S&W revolver. I think he simply had something fail in his new LCR - and it needs to go back to the dealer and, ultimately, Ruger. They'll fix it.

I have shot several of my range friend's LCRs. No sale here. Shot with my +P 158gr LHPSWCs, Remington or GA Arms, it felt and sounded like it was coming apart. With 130gr MC plinkers, same thing - just less recoil. My 642-2, IMHO, is a far better made and more reliable self-defender. The LCR's trigger is lighter - but no high marks for feel. I just don't like the LCR, I guess. I hope the OP gets a good resolution to his problem.

PS You might check the threads here on the 642 - there are some long-running threads. The 637 is the same revolver, except for it's exposed hammer.

Are there any known problems with 637? I don't mind if there has been in the past that have been corrected. I guess I bought the LCR a few years too early.

Smith and Wesson QC has gone to crap compared to what they once were. Read the link I posted. I don't like the reputation of the lock, either. BUT, if you get one, and it has problems, you can get it fixed, just like Ruger will fix that LCR! There is something wrong with YOUR Ruger, so get it fixed. It happens. i've even had an old school early 60s M10 K frame Smith and Wesson, internet wisdom says it's the greatest revolver ever made, crack a forcing cone. I just got another barrel and had it fixed! Hey, stuff happens. Nothing wrong with Smith and Wesson M10s, just mine broke.

I carry two of the most bashed handguns in existence, the Taurus M85SSUL and the Kel Tec P11. If you believe the internet, both are crap. Yet, these two guns have NEVER EVER not gone bang in 14 years. I've got several thousand rounds through the Taurus and over 11K through the Kel Tec. But, internet wisdom says they're junk. Okay, whatever. I've found lots of morons with moronic opinions on the net. The world is full of 'em.

Just get Ruger to fix that LCR and live happy. I don't own one, don't have a need, but I do like some design elements of the gun.
