This is my all time favorite rifle that I've had the pleasure of shooting and owning. I decided to go blow off some steam today at the range and decided to see if I could get this barrel to smoke a bit.
This was my 4th magazine to shoot out of it with maybe 10 minutes since the last mag was put through it. This is the only magazine I shot rapidly like this, the others were much slower with more intent on hitting my targets.

And before I get flamed, I know I wasn't wearing eye protection, my technique/stance/grip isn't professional and I'm aware I'm a nerd. :D

Anyhow, I did get it to smoke better than this after this video was shot. I can upload a video of that if anybody would like to see.

Can anybody tell me what it is that is smoking?? I'm assuming it's the oils/lubricant?

Having felt the urge to go smoking myself just a few 20 round mags full going downrange quickly should make your AR look like a hay field on fire....you are simply burning the oil residue off the barrel and other parts. I have one AR (ATI Omni) that i bought to shoot into destruction (maybe melt the plastic lower :)) and on my first outing had it smoking pretty good. Then i put it on paper and it was shooting five shot groups that were all touching (50 yds) laying the rifle over the side of my pick up....it now has a greater place in my line up of AR rifles.

lol nicely done! I can't tell you how in love I am with this piston driven setup that Sig has. The carbon fiber is more aesthetic than anything I believe. It does get hot to the point to where I can't use the handguard without gloves (this is why I was using the mag well). But, aesthetically, it looks great and is surprisingly sturdy. Lancer definitely did well with their CF work.
Maybe after I pay off my Kimber I'll buy some ball ammo and go back out and really make it go off. Throw up some pictures of your workhorse!
