My Sig P229

I was thinking of selling or trading my P229, but after a little range time today it is not going anywhere. This is the smoothest, softest recoiling, and most accurate semi auto that I ever shot. What was I thinking.

Thank you, it started out in this world as a solid black gun. After selling it to a friend years ago and getting it back a few months ago I had the barrel bead blasted by a local Sig armorer. It had been polished to a high shine, but I did not like it. I love the two tone look it has now.

Yes, it is a 40 S&W.

I dont think $300 will do it. Even though that is what I sold it for and bought it back for.

Mine is none of the above (or at least not not noticeably better than other handguns I own). It is, for me at least, a great combination of size, weight, and power (.40 S&W) and so I often default to it for a travel companion.

420, I have owned 3 Glocks (19,23,17), a S&W 3913, Beretta 96, Keltec PF9 and none of them shoot as good in my hands as the P229. Now revolvers are a different thing all together, I shoot revolvers the best.

I have been looking at purchasing another sig in the 40 S&W. What grain bullet does best in that gun? Bill

For defense purposes I use a 180 Gr. bullet, for range time what ever is cheapest. I always run two mags of the good stuff at the end of a practice session.

Winchester Western has just announced that they have gotten a contract for multiple millions of rounds of a Ranger load with 135 grain jhp for homeland security. We have used a lot of corbon 135 grain jhps and they are way distructive. accurate and consistent in velocity too.
Anyway, that 229 marked SIGs move from simple greatness to near perfection. For accuracy, reliability and durability, they can't be beat. I had one done up with Rogard on top and NP3 for the frame. The only reason I don't still have it is I gave it to a friend.

i've owned over 85 handguns and none of 'em shoots as accurately or as reliablely or is as much fun to shoot as my 9mm 229 SAS Gen2. Dennis

Thanks Doug. I like it also. It does not show holster wear like the Nitron finish. Not that holster wear bothers me. It was just cheaper to get it bead blasted than to send it away to get refinished when I got it back from my friend.
