SW1911

Joe-Well, the pistol didn't do too well with the WWC ammo. I had 6 FTF at various rounds in the magazine out of 50 rounds. It could have been the magazine (Wilson Combat) or the ammo. I sided with the ammo. The Win Clean ammo had a flat nose and it didn't like that at all. Went out a purchased 200 rounds of WWB 230gr ball and it ate it up without a hickup. :) That gave me great relief. I haven't tried HP yet so we will have to see. As far as accuracy, that old saying "It's boring shooting through the same hole all the time"..........:D

Glockrat-I had those grips specially made by Larry Davidson. It's G10 scales. It's a little different from what is out there.

Thanks for the comments fellas.....

Yeah, my SW1911 prefers round-shaped ammo, too (vs truncated cone).

Just about any hardball load will work, including Wolf, which mine shoots better than Win Wally White Box Val Pack, Win White Box, UMC, Winclean, & PMC.

I found mine did not like Gold Dots, but absolutely loves Remmy Golden Sabre 230gr HP.

Yours, too, is a tackdriver? This seems to be common with the SW1911.

FWIW, I think its monster claw external extractor helps in the reliability dept. S&W did it right, Kimber, IMO, did not.

Congrats!

My first 1911 was also the S&W, and I am absolutely in love with it. Love those grips, I have owned LarryD's knives and I've been meaning to get a pair of his grips ever since I picked up the weapon, just don't ever have the spare cash.

Mine's more accurate than I am (not saying much ;) ) and loves hardball of all sorts. Never had any sort of failure shooting milsurp, wally world white box, reloads, or the 1 box of HP's I put through it. Yeah, I'm happy. :)

WELCOME to the addiction, er, I mean, the CLUB!

I just got a SW1911 a couple of weeks ago and so far it likes the Winchester 230gr FMJs. I haven't tried feeding it anything else. It's my first 1911 pistol.

Good luck with yours.
