I had just purchased a 686-1 recently and that was good enough and then I saw this 686-3 and said well two is better than one.

I sold both of my 686's. Hadn't shot either in years, since I no longer compete. The new owners both enjoy them. One uses the 6" barrel for hunting and has taken a couple of deer. He thinks of it as the hammer of Thor and his results back him. The 4" revolver was sold to a young woman who is learning to shoot. I thought it a bit heavy for her but she is doing well with it at the range.

Glad some folks like the L frame.

Nope, The 686-1 ( bottom ) has been modified by Smith and Wesson and the 686-3 did not need the modification.
