I am planning to get a Lee original loader kit for my Savage this weekend, in the mean time, I bought a box of Winchester Super-X 180gr soft point last week and after mediocre results at the range (some me, some the ammo IMO) I purchased some Remington Core-lokt 180gr rounds for comparison.
Basically just comparing them visually is interesting. the Winchester are shorter compared to the Remington and some have a small dent in the shoulder. Knowing soft points aren't the best for target shooting, Win have more differences in the soft points too.
I would have to rate the Core-Lokt as the better quality ammo so far, but this all might be moot depending on how they shoot. But I would put money that the Rem will shoot better based on the facts that they are longer overall, less soft point deformation and better brass care. pics of targets to follow some time soon.

+1 for the Core-Lokt.
All of my rifles love the Rem Core-Lokt ammo. It is what I reach for first and will only buy something else in a pinch. When I first bought my Remington 721 .30-06 I bought some expensive Hornady ammo figuring it would shoot better, but the rifle hated it. Good thing since the core-lokt is much less expensive.
