My Wife Is Having An Issue Getting Her Permit In NY

So my wife and I decided to get our permits earlier this year. We went to the Sheriff's station at the same time to be finger printed and to hand in our packets. Everything was correct and complete before we handed it in. Neither of us have criminal records or anything that would keep us from obtaining a permit. I got mine back in July, she hasn't received anything at all. She has called a couple times, but they only tell her that they have until such and such date before they owe her an explanation. The only difference I can see between the two of us is that she is a female. Anyone have a clue as to what might be happening? We can't figure out what the issue is and it actually has us slightly worried.

It could be anything. Your best bet (and really the only thing you can do) is wait until the time limit has elapsed, and if she doesn't have her permit, go raise hell.
