I had an XCR concept in mind for 2009. Here is my photochop I put together a few weeks back.

And here is the nearly final realized version. I need a couple of mini KAC panels and T1 with 416 mount

I tapped off two mags and had to rush back to work. I need to zero the rifle and didnt really have time. I was mostly interested in the ergonomics and function at this point

The HK416 sights are a vast improvement over any AR15 sights I have used on the XCR. After double taps I dont need to reset my cheek weld as much. The HK416 rail has the same height over bore as the XCR, thus 416 sights result in a very snug, tight, consistant cheek weld even after rapid shots

With my Eotech 512, lower 1/3 cowitness is perfectly realized; the FOV is wide and open with the #1 aperture.

Recoil control felt better than with AR15 sights because of the tighter cheek weld, your head isnt bounced out of position as easily during double taps

Also, I've completly negated the need for a new stock with cheek height adjustments, and the "entry stock" LOP is perfect as is. Essentially I no longer need a stock because the ergos are pretty much perfected.

I will dive into accuracy when I have time. The gun show is this weekend so I probably wont get to shoot till later.

Lastly, the one issue some might have is the fact that 416 sights are fixed. Well there is a solution for you too. HK MP7 sights do fold and have the same height as the HK416 sights. Here is a crappy photo, but the real nifty part is even when the sights are folded they function as "pistol sights"

Photo of airsoft copies, but you get the idea

If you want folding sights, its probably the best way to go.

i don't know much about the xcr, but i know that i want one after seeing you pictures.

Gotta say that's the nicest looking XCR I've seen. What length barrel is it?

That's a 12" barrel which is the standard SBR factory option.

You can get it right down the gasblock as a custom length if you want to go shorter.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I wanted an XCR, but I decided to buy 3 AK's instead. They just want too much for the guns.

Well damn for the price of 3 ak's you could have got an XCR. But I understand, we all have limits, even though we can afford the item in question.

Honestly, at the rate of $1300 they charge for the standard XCR, I think a potential customer may be robbing Robinson Armament! From what I see on the xcr forums and elsewhere, the xcr rifle is a hell of a product for the price.

Whatever the consumer was asking for in a rifle, the XCR delivered. The basic idea was to mix together the upstanding features of the AK and AR and top it off with rails and changeable barrels, etc, and that's what was put on the market.

This is the one rifle that, in my opinion, gets everything right.

It beats out the ACR and SCAR. I want one terribly.

The main problem with the XCR and Robinson Arms is the swine built a superior product, listen to the users requests for enhancements and deliver when it works, DAMN THEM.......

My problem now is waiting for and trying to decide between the XCR-M in 7.62x51 or the RFB bullpup in 7.62x51........so many toys so little money....:uhoh:

Where in the heck in the world are you getting 3AK's for $1300? What kind are they? I want one if I could find one that cheap LOL.

You need a time machine or a plane ticket to Somalia :)

I havent seen a decent AK for under 800-900 in awhile

Sweet rifle, wish i could get one. New prices are horrible though, and my AR was ordered before i knew of it. (still am happy, i have something almost as good, a POF AR)

Wait, Dr tad, (Premium?) what is with the name change?:)

Sorry, you lose. I got a Polish Tantal AK74 for $475, a Saiga 12 for $500, and a Yugo 47 for $600, that was actually available for $500 at the time (sad face). that makes a grand total of $1575, all of them already have underfolding or sidefolding stocks, and iron sights... all expensive options on the XCR.

Notice that $1900+ price tag...

I guess the real question is; where are you getting a $1300 xcr? Are you including the cost of sights and whatnot?

The way I wanted the XCR would have me spending $1,485 total.

I only added a fixed tube stock (+$150), and rail covers (+$36).

Sights and such would come later.

Everything I'd want would barely put the price beyond the $1575 you paid for 3 AK based rifles/shotgun.

Then again, I'm willing to spend that amount on the XCR because I value it more than the three firearms you bought for that kind of money.

Like I said before, we have limits, and they're perfectly fine.

the xcr will be the next rifle i buy.that company thought of everything!you can even buy the rifle completely bare.you don't even have to buy their stock, iirc.

Much as I like that, it's too expensive for me to put much thought into. :(

But that turned out well! And I really wanna find a set of those sights and adapt them to my AK now...

Maybe you missed the 'base price' terminology in that listing. No folder, and no sights for
$1250? Not a good deal imho.

Like I said, my AK's all came with folders, except the Saiga, which I purchased for an additional $50, and they all have iron sights.

$1250 looks good, buy it's still too expensive for the base rifle and what you get.

The XCR is currently available in 5.56, 6.8 SPC and 7.62x39 with a 6.5 Grendel in test

$1249 plus probably $100 or less for iron sights

For the record, buying direct always costs more than a stocking dealer. Alex has always been firm in never under cutting his dealers.

NIB XCR's at stocking dealers are between $1349 and $1699 depending on what config it is.

Some people cant see paying a premium for firearms. Likewise I dont understand the appeal of a safe full of redundant cheap guns. I'd rather have one Colt, than 2 DPMS. That's just me.

Hell, my SCAR is prepaid at $2600. To each his own.
