Artillerymen in the US Civil War often preferred smooth bore field guns to rifled guns. The reason was that round balls, whether solid, shell, or case, would hit, skip and roll, doing damage far beyond the initial point of impact. Pointed shells (bullet shaped) from rifled guns would just dig into the ground and either do nothing or explode underground with little damage.

I saw on Adam's Twitter account that the show isn't being cancelled, but there will be some new safety considerations for sure. I'm surprised they didn't use the old Alameda Air Force base like they have before, lots of room there for mistakes if they happen.
