Naa revolver as a new cc option for me

Love my Black Widow... good.gif

I lowered the profile on my BW a bit more by replacing the standard grip with a Pug grip. I know that option won't work for the folks with bigger mitts than mine. I put the BW grip on the 3" Earl to see how it might perform as a minimalist "kit gun" (haven't had a chance to see how it serves in this regard yet...).

The extra inch of barrel really helps with accuracy and also adds critical velocity. Most of the new short barrel defense rounds do not reliably expand from the 1" Pug barrel, but they do from the 2" Black Widow. I believe the Black Widow was the development platform for the Speer Gold Dot .22 Mag ammo.

You have to try the Mini-Master. 4" of NAA is NOT difficult to conceal. Especially with the Clip/Folding holster which then disappears under a T-shirt. There's a time and place for all of them, of course!

Few commonly carried calibers will stop a man dead in his tracks the instant a handgun bullet strikes his body. Some can, but, most do not.

What calibers do you believe can stop a man dead in his tracks the instant a handgun bullet strikes his body?

Lovely little guns. I've nearly bought one at least half a dozen times. Quite honestly, the main reason I haven't added one to the stables is because .22 ammo was nearly impossible to find for the better part of 2 years.

Now that it's made a bit of a comeback (at annoyingly inflated prices...anyway), I might end up picking up one of these sweet little beauts. Even if .22 is more expensive, the low capacity and laborious loading process means that I'm not really going to have the TIME to burn through as much .22 on range trips. Hey, I'm a glass half full kind of guy;)

I haven't been carrying but for a little over 5 years. However, the longer I do this, the more I see merit in an "always gun". Don't get me wrong, if I have the availability I am going to bring as much pistol as I can. That said, I find myself packing the often poo-pooed mouse guns as my primary arms simply because my job and lifestyle make dressing around a larger gun impractical.

I buggered up my elbow at work about a month back. It's healing, but holding a 40oz steel 1911 out in front of me makes it scream. I'm back to packing a light little .380 in my vest pocket as my only carry (well sometimes I'll do a New York reload with another .380 riding in the other pocket instead of a spare mag). Probably not the most sound way to protect myself according to more learned folks, but I NEVER leave the house without it on my person. It's also, oddly enough, one of the guns I shoot the most accurately:scrutiny:

With the light weight, robust build, and advancement in bullet technology, I am very very tempted to add a Black Widow to my rotation to back-up my back-up;) Lovely little gun, and .22mag is a nasty round if a bit loud and flashy.

Congrats:)

Awesome sauce :)

I wouldn't mind getting a couple as back up guns, or for super discreet carry.

Have you put any thought into carrying a reload? I've heard of some people buying an extra cylinder and supergluing the rounds in place so it can be carried in a pocket, loaded.

Not that I would want to bet my life on the effect, but I've wondered if the .22 mag out of a short barrel might have the added nominal benefit of acting as a mini flash-bang grenade.

I remember reading an article some time ago by a former cop (it might have been Paco Kelly, but I honestly can't recall). Anyway, this person recounted being in a deep cover situation where the only firearm he could reasonably pack was a .22 mag mini-revolver.

As it happens, he found himself having to chase a fleeing drug dealer down a dark alley. The narrator fired a warning shot with his mini. According to him, the area lit up for "three city blocks," with a correspondingly loud report. The fleeing perp immediately dropped face-down on the pavement with his hands laced behind his head.

Hyperbole aside, I always get a chuckle when I think of that anecdote... :)

they are well made guns but, a single action mini gun such as this is slow in to action. have you ever considered an airweight J frame?

45_Auto.... I carried a .454 Casull revolver while hiking/camping in Kodiak, Alaska. I managed to conceal it in a shoulder holster while in town. I'm sure using this round on a huge charging man wouldn't keep him off of me, but, he'd be dead by the time his body strikes mine. Likewise, the .500 S&W Magnum. My partner did instantly stop a perp with a 230 grain .45 ACP round once out of a 1911, but, as I said, few will stop a man dead in his tracks, IMHO.

Yes JERRY I have considered the Airweight. I agree with you the 442/642 is a great option. I actually own one of each and carry them often. I also own a Ruger LCR in 357 I carry regularly. However, there are times when those options are simply too large. I bought the NAA to prevent going naked completely without a firearm. One specific example is when riding on my motorcycle. My jacket and other safety apparel take up space. My 642 in my pants pocket is uncomfortable after a time on a long ride. I can put the Black Widow in my riding jacket without it feeling heavy. That makes it a lot easier to access while straddling my bike. I have indeed been practicing with the draw and cock routine required for a single action pistol. It does indeed require some practice and thought.

My wife uses the standard model magnum as a bug to her snub. I borrow it sometimes when it nothing else will fit the role. When someone makes fun of it I tell them go down range and take a few rounds. Never had any takers.

The BW has been the one I have chosen to use the most over the years. But I picked up a 3" EARL last year. I swapped grips with the BW & find I like shooting them better that way. The EARL is accurate & reliable . It also conceals well. Both of these will work for EDC & will get the job done! The new H.G. rounds are great! Glad I bought a few!
