I like the look of these, even if dangerous to carry at times. I was thinking, the Luger also has a sear bar, but it is shielded by a piece of steel. What if you were to weld a piece of steel over it, making sure the bar has some clearance? I don't particularly wanna do this, i don't even own one, but just for kicks what do you think?

my dad gave me one that he brought back from occupied japan, along with a sword....it's in the safe in oil soaked rags....not the kind of gun to be experimenting with...gary

You'd ruin any collector value and it's fairly safe with the safety ON.

It's still not a design suited to carrying in condition 1.

I wasn't talking about helping them, they were freakbags back then. I merely wanted to turn a cool looking pistol into something practical, but whatever I'm not doing it anyways....

You're trying to turn chicken crap into chicken salad on this one. And in this case, the chicken crap is worth more than the chicken salad

The cartridge is even more worthless as a self defense round than the Broomhandle Mauser round and the .30 Luger round. It is considerably less powerful than either of those. I probably won't bother to reload for it, meaning, now that I've shot mine it is just for looks and nostalgia. I can't imagine altering a rather rare gun like that to solve a "problem" that is theoretical.

The powerlessness of the cartridge is the real reason to not carry it.
