Name ONE firearm you wouldn't be caught....

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Are you simply posing another phrasing of the "if you could have only ONE gun..." threads..?

No, I think it's different, in that if I could only have one gun it would be something extravagant.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be caught dead...theoretically...without at bare minimum a good snub nose revolver.

A Taurus 605 stainless for me. I personally put more faith in revolvers than autos, in a pinch, although I do like autos.

Allow me to add a bit more info: I, and my wife, CCW every time we leave the house, Being a former LEO, I understand the concept of 'personal responsibility'. Therefore, I am NOT going to 'be caught dead' without SOME means of personal protection. For me, now, it's an S&W 640, rated for +P+ ammo. My load of choice is Buffalo Bore's HVY 158 gr. LSWCHP+P w/gas check. My wife carries an S&W 351PD with Hornady's latest.

Others reading this will say they 'wouldn't be caught dead' without their AR, AK, etc, etc, etc. I understand the value of a good rifle/carbine, but tend to think too much emphasis may be placed on something that tends to stay 'hidden' in a safe, closet, etc, rather than something of a more immediate use.

Make sense?

It makes a lot of sense.

I also never understand the "can only have one gun" guys who say anything but a handgun. A gun you don't have immediately access to...for defensive purposes...is essentially worthless.

Any of my revolvers. And revolvers in my Layway bin.....Why? because of reliability.

If im not conceal carry than its my 1968 Colt Trooper in 357. Beacuse it still works over 44 years later.....

if im concealing, my 44sp. Why? because its a revolver and its stopping power.

my slim carry concealed gun is my Colt pocket 25 auto. because i can bairly have anything on and still carry. And its reliable because its a colt....this is my only auto as well.

These threads always boil down to a "tough choice" thought exercise. For me it would probably be my 65-3 3" RB. But a case can be made for my 3" heavy barrel 36-1 chief, as well. Actually, maybe the chief special.

I would get a golden 1911 with pearl grips, so I can sell it to get guns I really want.

Probably a German Mauser.

Ruger SR9c, because it's my every day carry. It is my chosen carry weapon because it's easily concealed, while also being a 'duty' worthy pistol.

Oh, okay. You're simply asking what we carry as a minimum for EDC. For me, my most-commonly carried piece is a Kel-Tec PF9, which is often backed up by a P32. However, there are some times I cannot carry the PF9, specifically, at work, so I do not carry it there or while traveling to and from. The P32 is carried alone during that travel, and stowed while at work (EMS is a no-carry profession.)

Both guns are dead-on reliable with my chosen ammunition. This is the readily-available and affordable-for-proofing Remington-UMC 115-grain JHP in the 9mm and Fiocchi 73-grain FMJ for the .32 (though I am considering sourcing Fiocchi's Extrema 60-grain HP for testing for the latter.) They were chosen based on ease of concealment due to their sizes and weights, as well as ammunition capacity.

So I guess if you're asking about what our "bare minimum" carry is, the P32 would technically be it for me. But, other than the times mentioned above, the PF9 is on me at all out-of-bed times.

Like you, Dogsoldier, I am also former LEO, and my mind cannot shut that off, despite being out of it for over two decades (being in EMS now, I guess, continues that "desire-to-assist" mentality.)

Name ONE firearm you wouldn't be caught dead without
What "wouldn't be caught dead without" is asking my preference for what I 'would be caught dead with'....it is an odd question.
I suppose the type of firearm I have when I am caught dead may be informative to others, but it won't do squat for me at that point.
.

Considering I can't carry at work, I can't really answer this question in its literal sense.

One carry gun (essentially what this is about)?

My Gen 4 Glock 26, or whenever I can get my hands on one, a Gen 4 Glock 33...

My Bersa Thunder 9UC Pro with 13 round mags. It has been flawless for me and I shoot it very well.

I have several guns for different applications that I like as well or better than the Bersa. But if I had to have only one to keep, the Bersa covers all my needs nicely.

My Walther P99 AS comes in a very close 2nd but it being a little bigger takes it down a notch. Of course I reserve the right to change my mind. ;)

Kel Tec P-32. Yup, really...

I carry this little guy almost 24x7; from the time I wake up to the time I put my head on my pillow. Does that mean I wouldn't use something with a little more umph? Nope. Not at all.

The little guy is my "fight to a larger gun while at home gun"; my "I can carry it while wearing a pair of gym shorts gun"; my "back pocket gun when I want to look like I'm not carrying gun";

Finally it's my backup gun when I'm carrying something bigger.

My "bare minimum" weapon would be my Ruger LCP .380.

My "preferred carry", if clothing allows, is my Ruger SP101 .357.

I think that's what you're wanting to know.......

Lightbulb on!!! I wouldn't get caught dead without my RUGER!!!! (IMHO) (Ruger handguns = 3; Other makes =0)

Name ONE firearm you wouldn't be caught...dead without...and tell why

My minimum carry is a micro-compact Kahr PM40.

It's small and light enough to have with me everywhere. It's reliable, accurate, and has full sights and adequate power. During the times when I'm carrying a bigger gun the PM40 is also on me as a backup.

Out of all my guns?

Well its hard for me
Its either my GP-100 .357 Mag 3' or my Taurus 1911 .38 Super.
If it boiled down to it, which in this thread is the idea, It would be my Ruger GP100

Well either one of my carry weapons. I vary them depending on how I feel. Right now its my S&W 6904. Eats anything and everything I feed it.
