Very good AndyC! Now admit it, you used google. :neener:

Try another. ;)

"...The Minstrel fell, but the foeman's chains
Could not bring this proud soul under
The harp he loved never spoke again
For he tore its chords asunder

And said, "No chains shall sully thee
Thou soul of love and bravery!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
And shall never sound in slavery!"

I have no idea what that one is but here's one I don't think anyone will get soon.

Ambushed by the spray of lead
Count the bullet holes in your head.
Offspring sent out to cry,
Living...

And another ultraobscure one...

This is the story
Of love that came undone,
This is the story
Of ...............................

What's a google? :D

Nope, no idea on the Minstrel one - it's not Jethro Tull, Minstrel in the Gallery, I know that much...

3.
Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons
packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway
a place where nobody knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance
I'm getting used to it now
Lived in a brownstone, lived in the ghetto
I've lived all over this town

"This Ain't No Disco" by the Talking Heads. Great song.

MANDATORY SUICIDE!!! MASSACRE ON THE FRONTLINES!! -Slayer.

How about:

"Ain't Found A Way To
Kill Me Yet
Eyes Burn With Stinging
Sweat
Seems Every Path Leads Me To
Nowhere
Wife And Kids And Household Pet
Army Green Was No Safe Bet
The Bullets Scream To Me From Somewhere

Here They Come To Snuff The Rooster
Yeah Here Come The Rooster
You Know He Ain't Gonna Die

Walkin' Tall Machine Gun Man
They Spit On Me In My Homeland
Gloria Sent Me Pictures
Of My Boy
Got My Pills 'Gainst
Mosquito Death
My Buddy's Breathin'
His Dyin' Breath
Oh God Please Won't You Help
Me Make It Through"

Rooster - Alice in Chains.

This is a tough one:

"Circling a face from a favorite fanzine,
talking **** as I load the magazines.
.30-.30 is oiled and ready,
blunted so you know the nerves are steady.
Got a backstage pass all access,
packin' a gat where it's strapped you can't guess.
Slippin' a mickey to the crew and security,
aiming the red dot at the targets nine spot."

- Chris

As I was going over
the far famed Kerry mountain
I met with captain Farrell and his money he was countin
I first produced my pistol, and then produced me rapier
saying stand and deliver for you are the bold deceiver

I love armed robbery in the morning.

"This Ain't No Disco" by the Talking Heads. Great song.
Right band, but the title of the song is, "Life During Wartime."

And WolffromWV is correct - "Lucretia, My Reflection" from The Sisters of Mercy.

"Now that the smoke's gone
And the air is all clear
Those who were right there
Got a new kind of fear
You fight and you were right
But they were just too strong
They stick it in your face
And let you smell what they consider wrong..."

Ok how about:

"And I'm sorry about the time I got drunk and shot your dog and told you he ran away."

"Why be a fool when you can chase away
Your blind and your gloom
I have blessed each one of these bullets
And they shine just like a spoon

To have sixty silver wishes
Is a small price to pay
They’ll be your private little fishes
And they’ll never swim away"

Give that one a try...

"___________, yeah
Tearing my body all apart

Evil man make me kill ya
Evil man make you kill me
Evil man make me kill you
Even though we’re only families apart

Well I pick up my axe and fight like a bomber
(You know what I mean)
Hey! And your bullets keep knocking me down

Hey, I pick up my axe and fight like a bomber now
Yeah, but you still blast me down to the ground

The same way you shoot me down, baby
You’ll be going just the same
Three times the pain,
and your own self to blame"

Who can get this one?

1.
It didn't matter ___ was running free
Cause the man he killed never mattered much to me
There’s talk in our town about where Tommy might run
Wondered if it mattered, he has used my gun

Isn't love a funny thing with a pistol in your hand
Close you eyes and bow your head to pray if you can
Well you sealed your fate when you picked up that shotgun
18 Years of getting older now a dead man on the run, on the run

2.
Hand me up my shotgun Maggie made
The Devil's come to take your boy away
I've been spotted on the run
I'll be waitin when they come
Hand me up my shotgun Maggie made

I keep my pistol by my head at night
Lordy I can't seen to do no right
My hometown, they know my name
Killed the man and won I my fame
Keep my pistol by my head at night

Skunky - did you mean
And I'm sorry about that time I accidentally shot your dog/While I was huntin' and told you he ran away/Oh wait, I told you about that, didn't I??:D
That's from Aviators by Waylon's little boy Shooter.

fal_4_me, that's Jimi Hendrix's "Machine Gun," off the Band of Gypsies album. My favorite Hendrix tune. :)

Here's a short one for you:

"Never been dumped cause I'm the most mackin'-est,
Never been jumped cause I'm known the most packin'-est."

Skunky - did you mean
And I'm sorry about that time I accidentally shot your dog/While I was huntin' and told you he ran away/Oh wait, I told you about that, didn't I??

Yepper..haha you guys are quick.

I was too lazy to look it up, and if I did someone might CHEET!!!

That song cracks me up.

"Just the Right Bullets" Tom Waits, The Black Rider

a great great album.

try this one:

Look out ahead
I see danger come
I want a pistol
I want a gun
I'm scared baby
I wanna run
This world's crazy
Give me the gun

The night was icy cold I stood along
I was waiting for an army foot patrol
And when at last they came into my sight
I squeezed the trigger of my armalite

Chorus:
Oh Mama, oh Mama comfort me
For I know these awful things have got to be
But when the war for freedom has been won
I promise you I'll put away my gun.

A shot rang out, I heard a soldier cry
"Oh please don't leave me here alone to die"
I realized his patrol had run away
And left their wounded comrade for me to slay.

(Chorus)

"There's nothing in this world I would not do
If there's mercy in your heart you'll let me live"
And in his eyes I saw a look of pain
As the mussel of my gun moved towards his brain.

(Chorus)

The dawn was breaking as I reached my base
I will not forget the look on that boy's face
Fear, agony, and torment where all there
Oh but to your memory, mother, his life I spared

Normally I wouldn't post the entire song's lyrics but since it's a ballad, you might as well hear the story.

Frankly, I think this is a toughie.

Try this one

In the early morning hours there's a din in the air;
mayhem's on the loose.
Stormtroopers comin', and you better be prepared.
Got no time to choose.

Get ready. Stormtroopers comin'.

Comin' up that street, jackboots steppin' high.
Got to make a stand.
Looking in your windows and listen to your phone.
Keep a gun in your hand.

Get ready. Stormtroopers comin'.
Get ready. Stormtroopres comin' around.

Two hundred down, and it's comin' 'round again.
Got no second choice.
Where's the justice and where's that law.
Raise your healthy voice.

Get ready. Stormtroopers comin'.
We'll be ready. Stormtroopers comin'.
Getting ready. Stormtroopers comin'.
Get ready. Stormtroopers comin'.

Sniper's Promise - I don't know the band, but it's an Irish Republican song
well played sir, can I do one more?

'Twas a morning in July,
I was walking to Tipperary
When I heard a battle cry
From the mountains over head
As I looked up in the sky
I saw an answer to this song
He looked at me right fearlessly and said:

(chorus)
Will ye stand in the band like a true Irish man,
And go and fight the forces of the crown?
Will ye march with O'Neill to an Irish battle field?
For tonight we go to free old Wexford town!

Said I to that hint, too easy
"Won't you take me to your captain
T'would be my pride and joy
For to march with you today.
My young brother fell in Cork
And my son at Innes Carthay!"
Unto the noble captain I did say:

(chorus)

As we marched back from the field
In the shadow of the evening
With our banners flying low
To the memory of our dead
We returned unto our homes
But without my Gah! Ninja
Yet I never will forget those words he said:

(chorus)

Note:
OK, I'm not an Irish (OK, so I am Irish) Republican, nor a proponent of war, (guerilla or otherwise). You gotta admit though the stories are compelling.

This one should be much easier, it was far more popular.
