I have a line on a M1 Carbine made by National Postal Meter. I know nothing about M1s nor it's value. I looked over the carbine and here's what I've found. The bolt is round. The serial number range 4,080,000. It has adjustable sights. The barrel is marked Marlin. There is a P in a square on the stock. Stock is in very good condition without any major dings or repairs. Near the sling hole it is marked S-HB. There doesn't appear to be any other markings on it, but I did not disassemble it. The upper handguard is solid wood. There isn't an attachment point for a bayonet. The barrel is shiney and appears new, but the bluing on the outside is showing wear. No rust or pitting, but bluing on the receiver and parts is probably only 65%. The front sight is marked RIA. The front barrel band is stamped MMO. OK, M1 Gurus, what would be a fair price for something like this? It's a friend of a friend so there's probably going to be the homey discount, but I don't want to be taking advantage either.

I paid $550.00 last year for my '44 NPM Carbine in the 4,200,000 range. Sounds like mine was in a bit better shape than this one...

Hope that helps...

between $300 and $500 for an M1 carbine in decent shape is reasonable pricing. If its more beat up probably around $200. From what you say i wouldn't pay more than $500

$450-$475. With crazy prices on Carbines around here, it would be tagged $695 or higher.
