Anyone recommend a good write up on the concept of "natural rights" as they apply to 2A and or self defense? I did a search and didn't see anything specific pop up. For example:

"natural rights, political theory that maintains that an individual enters into society with certain basic rights and that no government can deny these rights. The modern idea of natural rights grew out of the ancient and medieval doctrines of natural law, i.e., the belief that people, as creatures of nature and God, should live their lives and organize their society on the basis of rules and precepts laid down by nature or God."

I am sure somone has done a nice job of applying natural rights and self defense and or the 2A. In some respects, it seems to me the older concept of natural rights may have morphed into human rights in the modern lingo. Opinions? URLs?

Thanx

Here's some general stuff on human rights that might get you started:

If you are serious about working out the connections between natural rights, human rights, and so forth, check out this book. It's designed for a philosophy class but has quite a few interesting readings on the subject. It'd recommend getting a copy through a library rather buying it, however.

Here's some specific things for you to take a look at regarding 2A:
