I am new to muzzleloading. I have a Navy Arms 50 caliber flintlock and don't know what diameter lead round ball I should use? Any suggestions.

Either a .490 ball with a .015 patch or a .495 ball with a .010 patch. Whichever shoots best and loads best in your rifle.

.490 ball, .018 canvas duck patch material from Wal-Mart. Mine shoot best with 65 grns accuracy load to 80 max load.

Yes, 80gr 2fg, .018 - .020" patch and .490 round ball. Im not sure what twist your rifles has though. Some of the navy arms were made for big conicals and had a 1:24 twist.
