The Shadow Knows...
I just bought this on a whim for $80- only really wanted to spend $50 but I figured there is some profit room at $80 so....

Anyway, I listed it on Gunbroker but dont really have any idea where it will end up. Do any of you fine gentlemen have an idea as to value? I have pics posted on the auction.

Thanks for any help!

You have an SS proofed P.D. Krebs NAZI Officer's (I think) sword. If the nut/butt is also SS marked you will be able to realize a considerable profit if the sword is sold properly (perhaps 10 - 1 on your investment).

Do not do anything to "improve" upon it other than a light coat of oil. Anything you do other than that will probably wreck the value.

Yeah, that's worth a LOT more than $80. I wouldn't sell it just anywhere - you need to find collectors.

I still think it is an officer's instead of enlisted sword because of the be medallion on the grip. Take a look at the websites I hot-linked to. I'd recommend taking better pictures and sending them to Rock Island and asking their opinion and if they'd like to include it in their next auction. They'll pull a higher bidding audience than most others.

You'll want a detail of the proof on the guard, an overall full length picture with the blade out of the scabbard (but with the scabbard), and a 3/4 angle of the grip showing the Krebs and the condition of the grip.

Good luck on the auction/sale.

Considering that you'll realize much much more with them than GB it probably won't matter much.

To the OP, it looks like you directly copied the information from this website,
http://www.usmbooks.com/nazi_police_sword.html
for your gunbroker auction description. Might want to be careful doing that as this warning was posted at the top of that web page.
