Ja Morant may have committed big NBA gun violation (larrybrownsports.com)

I find this interesting and Morant's actions are IMHO dumb and foolish, but are they more than that? No crime commited. No legal action againts him. He didn't show up at a practice arena or locker room with a firearm.

apparently, this is the language in the NBA collective barganing agreement being referenced for his suspension.
Section 9(a) states in part that players are not permitted to possess a firearm or other deadly weapon “whenever a player is traveling on any NBA-related business, whether on behalf of the player’s Team, the NBA, or any League-related entity.”

and I don't know any details of this other than the first incident, he was in a strip club, with some of his friends. not on NBA business. and the 2nd time he's with friends riding shotgun in a vehicle, not on NBA business.

The suspensions with loss of playing time and endorsements are likely to cost him upwards of 200 million dollars when all is said and done, maybe more. So, from my layman perspective, my question is, what right does the NBA have to punish him? no crime commited. on his free time. not doing anything illegal.

The amount of money on the line makes it interesting.

I don't have a strong opinion about the fine/suspension. Unfortunately, players such as Morant are role models for younger people. His cavalier attitude towards firearms probably needs to be checked.
