From personal experience - they are a waste of money. Save your pennies and buy a decent used scope.

I've looked at a few of them at local gun shows. Poor optics, dim and the sharpness of the image was very bad, very difficult to adjust focus and power rings. Cheap Chinese junk.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money, look at the Bushnell Banner, Simmons Whitetail Classic or Tasco. There are decent scopes in those labels for under $100.

Buying an NC Star for a precision rifle application is like going All-In with Ace-Queen against Seven-Seven. It's a coin flip. You either get one that is functional or one that won't track or hold zero.
I gambled $30 on one I bought for a scout mounted K-31. It won't hold a zero vertically. Windage holds, but the POI varies in terms of elevation by as much as 6 inches.
Decent scopes can be had for $200 give or take. Take a look at the Bushnell 3200 series or the Weaver Grand Slams.

A couple of friends of mine swear by them.
Wouldn't be my first choice. I'd want a Simmons ATV from www.natchezss.com. Under $90, and a great scope.

The cheaper leupolds are still excellent scopes and can be had for 100 and change. I think walmart sells vari-X IIs and maybe IIIs for 120-150. Ive been shooting a vari-x II for years on my tikka 7mm rem and it is absolutely wonderful. Havent adjusted it since 2002.
edit: I take this post back. Apparently I was whacked out on goofballs when I said that you could get leupolds for cheap. Still, you get what you pay for. The burris scopes look nice by the way.
