NCIS/Sniper Rifle question

Must be a new terminolgy. Although our Sniper weapons of the day varied from a few left over 03A4s, saw a couple of Garands w/scopes. However, greatest number where not target, but heavy barreled Winchester Model 70s.
Varied scopes that tended to fog except for Redfields. Ammo was 30-06 Match, issued a case at a time. Maybe some had names (personal) of an old girl friend or two for their rifles, no clue!!!!
Agree with no ex Marines. Former Marine is one that passed on, with a new job of guarding Heaven's Gates. Once a Marine, Always a Marine. Unless you go out with a dishonorable. Ya did stupid and lost your title! I would have to think if it qualified as an Ex. or not.

When it zoomed over the 2nd hill looked a little over a mile..

and then he was on scene in 30 seconds:rolleyes:

I actually liked the new spinoff last night NCIS Los Angeles although the premise sounds like a real stretch:p Were those Sigs they were carrying?

he was late getting to the scene because he stopped for some coffee on the way, otherwise he would have beat the bullet there.
and anyone who thinks leroy jethro gibbs couldn't do the above feats obviously hasn't watched the show

The duty weapon for NCIS, CID, and OSI is the Sig P228.

I am addicted to this show, but season five had some truly head-slappingly annoying, politically correct gun bloopers.

where was the gun bloopers?
This is really old so I don't really remember, but I have seen some stupid stuff with guns on TV. One of the worst was a scope positioned backwards on a "sniper rifle"...others include shooting a rifle with the eye against the scope, mix and match guns, and guns with the wrong ammo...along with the "usual" people getting blown backwards when shot, firing from the hip (and hitting something), and no recoil/muzzle rise. :)

Don't remember what season it was, but a couple glaring gun law errors were McGee saying he was checking the national gun registration database for a certain firearm. Abbey also mentioned that in 2010 the "new law requiring all guns sold in the US to have ballistic fingerprints" would take effect.

I've also noticed that all the NCIS guys are shown carrying FMJ ammo in their sidearms. I've never heard of a federal agency using anything other than hollowpoints for at least the last 20 years. And what's with everybody keeping their pistols in their desk drawers? Any bad guy in the building is only a few feet away from an unsecured handgun as they walk him past the "bullpen".

Gibbs is a MARINE

It's not his fault. Maybe he didn't know any better. Or maybe his ASVAB GT was under 60. :(

Yelled down the hall at the MEPS station: "Hey Sergeant Marks! Got another sub-sixty GT score."

Reply: "Well ... we need Marines, too."

:D

My theory on the Gibbs-runs 1000-meters in 30 seconds is: ever heard of a dirtbike? You don't here one, but there is a gunfight inprogress.

Kate was also the name of Gibbs' real close partner of whom a sniper killed next to Gibbs. Then came Ziva .
