Manuals are all packed to move and I purchased some 62 gr match bullets. Gun show coming up and I need to know what powder to pick up. These will be loaded for accuracy out of a 1-12" twist bolt gun...

In my 1:8 barrel AR, 60 gr Sierra Varmiters shoot VERY WELL with 25.0 gr of Hodgdon 4895. You may want to start at a grain below that and work your way up.

Can't say for your gun. I've shot H4895, H322 and Varget in a 1:8 twist and don't see much difference in accuracy with a 70 gr. Nosler Competition bullet.

They all shoot about the same as the 63 gr. Radway Green surplus that I bought a couple of years back.

My neighbor has a Colt that seems to like IMR 4895 loaded up toward max. the best with a 62 gr. bullet.

Both guns are semi-autos.

Just a quick list, of what i can think of, off hand;

.223rem

50gr & lower IMR/H 4198, R7, W680.

45gr - 55gr IMR 3031, Benchmark, H322, BLC(2), 10-X, N133.

50gr - 65gr IMR/H 4895, H335, W748, N135.

60gr - 70gr+ IMR 4064, Varget.

This is just a general guide relating to burn rate suitability in .223rem, hope it helps some.

I used 23.5 gr of H322 under a Sierra 60 gr. Varminter in my bolt gun. Great powder, definitely worth a try if you haven't.
