I started asking about this in a previous thread and several people have written to me asking me if I'd found a source. Well, no...so will a competent machinist please step forward?
We need a "base pin latch". In blue and stainless.
The Ruger base pin latch is difficult to twist with your fingers and taking a screwdriver to it is both a pain in the butt and likely to end up with a big 'ole scatch on the frame as it slips off.
All anyone wants is a slightly larger knob that is knurled so it would be easier to turn with greasy fingers. Leaving the screwdriver slot in it would be good, just in case something really got jammed.
The new base pin latch needs to be big enough with a non-slip surface to work with greasy fingers but small enough that it doesn't interfere with anything, holster? Whatever?
It also has to look cool and be an aesthetic improvement over the stock latch. Which can't be difficult....after all, the stock one is just a screw head.
No one will be able to retire on the profits from making these but I know all ROA users would be very grateful.
Any takers?
Belt Mountain?
Banana River Outfitters?
Clements?
Power Custom?
Kirst?
These are just the ones I came up with off the top of mu head. Truth is, I'm sure most of these folks would consider this just too small a job.
