I bought an early 1970’s Model 670 30-06 a couple years back and the kids glommed onto it. I liked it enough that I bought an Extreme Weather 06’ last year for myself. The earlier one had a crappy cracked stock so I moved the B&C stock, bottom plate and five round magazine from the EW to it. I put the new one in a McMillan along with the four shot blind magazine from the 670.

NOW they both don’t feed right…
-The 670 jams on the second round and you have to jiggle the bolt and give it a second push.
-The M70 EW runs great when only fed two from the mag but ALWAYS jams on the third or pops it out on the ground.

They are both excellent rifles that shoot great. Is this a simple feed lip fix or do I have to get expensive? Hope that all made sense. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks ahead.

Sorry to hear about Art Eatmann

I should have mentioned that they both fed perfectly before I swapped magazines and the bottom metal to the 670.

Try putting the followers back to the original rifles. And make sure they are not installed backwards. You may never get this to work. The 670 you have was made when Winchester actually owned the company. Winchester has only been a name since 1980 when they were sold to the United States Repeating Arms Company.

And they were sold again to FN who currently owns the company. There have been several minor changes to the design since the 1970's. I know that bottom metal and stocks are different, but one or the other can be modified to interchange. Not sure about mag boxes being interchangeable.

Sorry it took so long. I swapped followers and then opened up the feed lips on the chamber end of the 4 rd “blind” magazine. That fixed it for the new gun. The follower was nose diving. Runs great so far dry running with different ammo.
Unfortunately I broke the old follower trying to get it loose from the spring. It was riveted. I said some words.
Anybody know where to get another?
