I own a Kimber Eclipse Target II that I wish to add a ambi safety to it. I was looking at several makes of ambi safeties and I found that Kimber make one for their 1911 style pistols. It is slightly different than the others since the Kimber ambi safety also replaces the trigger pin upon installation. My question to you knowledgeable guys is how difficult is this safety to install. I am familiar with most 1911's and am able to detail strip a 1911, but I'm not a gunsmith that ''fit'' a non-drop in part into a pistol. So some advice guys, please?

No particularly difficult, but then again it does have to be fit. Whatever criticisms may be leveled at Kimber, a Kimber part in a Kimber gun will usually come very close to fitting without a lot of work. The most important part of fitting a safety is ensuring that it totally blocks the sear and allows absolutely zero movement of the sear while in the on safe position. Got Kuhnhausen? If not do yourself a favor and at least borrow a copy to read before stepping off into smiffin' your gun. If you'd like a mare detailed explanation of the way I do it, let me know. I'll copy/paste something I wrote for another forum.

The Mimber safety, is the only part on a Kimber I've ever seen fail. Get a better quality part since you need to fit it anyways. I went with a Fusion single sided when I eliminated the ambi on my SA loaded.
