my 95, upon ejecting fired cases will , instead of throwing the cases up & over my shoulder clearing the gun, will flip the cases directly back, hitting the top of the bolt shroud about an inch from the breech end, leaving a distictive brass mark. the boys at winchester said this is normal, but i havent seen such marks on other 95's. the effort used in ejecting is what i;d judge as natural or normal, though the speed in which i lever the empties back does not seem to make a difference,,they still hit the bolt top....thoughts or comments on if yours do this..?...many thanks

Are you referring to a Win 1894 model lever action? If so, I find those cartridges ejected in an almost artful spin to the right in .30-30 and mine is brand new.

My original 95 in 7mm(may not be original) mauser ejects up and over my head. My Browning 95 in 270 winchester, which I gave to my son put them off to side and back.

HA! I immediately thought this was a computer question posted in the wrong forum!. Being a geek, I had to drop in and help.

Sorry... back to your thread :D

It didn't even dawn on me until I started reading the question that win = Winchester...

"Wow, that's one messed up computer there chucking brass at you..." doh.

Nope, BadDadBrad, he meant the Winchester Model 1895.

Like this one:

Totally different gun from the Model 94, with a box magazine, stronger action, and much more powerful chamberings. Extractor and ejector changes over the duration of manufacture can dump the brass in varying locations per each gun. The last Model 95 I shot, in .30-40 Krag (.30 US Army) dumped the brass right on the back of my neck.

I have a top-eject Model 94 in .30-30, made in 1976, that does the same thing. I'll bet the later Angle Eject Model 94's were a godsend to those who experienced the hot-brass-on-neck phenomenon. ;)
