Hi all I'm thinking of making a purchase of a AR. It is a Olympic arms Click THIS to see the specific model. My intent is mostly shooting for enjoyment, but having another choice of weapon if shtf is also a factor too. I have heard good things about Olympic arms too.
I would like your thoughts, input, likes, dislikes on this rifle, or anything else you would like to contribute. One of the many selling points for me is that it is a local in state company, spending money local is way cool!!!
Feel free to give any and all thought on this rifle. Thanks.

With that many alpha numerics and the word "Tactical" in the name, how could you go wrong.

It looks like a fun gun to shoot and add a few doo dads to.

If you get the rifle, let me know....I have an old Olympic Arms baseball cap I will send you to go with your new rifle. I got it at a SHOT show a few years ago.

Well while in the same price range it is not a Rock River or a Stagg but it looks nice.

That rifle is every bit as good as any other in it's price range. I have a Olympic Arms K16 and it irritates the guys who have the more expensive versions that it shoots as good or better...

Happy shootin'!!!

:)

Thanks everyone for your input, I appreciate all of it.

Schleprok62, (or any one that owns an Olympic arms rifle) can you tell me a little about your experience with that rifle. Did you buy it new or used? Did it work right out of the box no problems? Have you had to do any sort of miner tweaking or smithing done to it? How many round have you thrown down range with it? What ammo does the rifle love or hate? Do you keep it show room clean or just clean it after so many rounds? Thanks.

Thanks rangerruck. Does anyone know how old that chart is? Ive seen it in a few forums and read possible reasons for the not so well results.

I have an Olympic AR that i bought used and havent had any issues with it, I do not know the model number but its has a 20inch bull barrel with a free floating hand guard.
There might be better quality for a similar price but I havent had issues with mine

Thank you every one!

EHCRain10 that's good to know a used one works well too. At least in your case some one did not have a problem with it and just tried to unload it on someone else!

paintballdude902 in the catalog that I downloaded it says it comes with a flat top with detachable handle, the best of both worlds.

FBMG Smithy, I see by you name and sig that you are a gun smith of some kind. With that back ground can you give me more detail that make a Stag function better than an Olympic arms rifle? Also what would be the reason of the lower quality functioning of the Olympic arms? Having some knowledge passed down from a smith would be invaluable. This info could sway my decision a bit.

Once again thanks everyone and keep the info flowing.

Not a problem Philmccan. The problem is something called tollerence stacking. That is when you have several things off by only .001" or.002". Alone they make no difference but added all of them together and it makes a big difference. You end up with a malfunctioning gun. Its the same with any gun but especially so with semi-auto's.
Stag has been gaining popularity and hasn't relaxed their standards. Thats what makes them function better.

FBMG Smithy, thank you for taking the time to explain that. It makes allot of sense. I will be looking into that further.
