Need advise on using turkey gun for predator hunting

I have a Mossy 835 "tactical turkey" I'd like to use for short range predator work. It has an Accu-mag choke which says "ulti-full turkey" and .695. Manual says no steel shot for this choke, Mossy website says lead only.

Question: can I use hevi-shot through it? ie. the Hevi-shot "dead coyote" load? I see that the Carlson's Dead Coyote choke says no steel shot but is ok for hevi-shot, lead and coated lead (I think). Do I need to buy a new choke?

Any recommendations on coyote/predator loads which would be safe in my gun with the current choke tube?

It shouldn't hurt it to shoot plain old lead through any size choke, it will change your pattern slightly of course.

Personally, I would swap chokes to something I am comfortable with but that's just me.

If your paying through the nose for Dead Coyote, I wouldn't want to change the pattern as supposedly Dead Coyote already has the "perfect pattern".

I have never shot predator loads through a turkey choke before so my opinion is worth moot.

Do some pattern tests and see what works for you at the range you will be working with.

I want to make sure the hevi-shot is safe to shoot through my "no steel" turkey choke before I shoot it. Hevi-shot is not lead, as I understand it.

I found this on the Hevishot website under the FAQ section:

Choke Tubes:

1. Ducks over decoy or in flooded timbers – modified choke or improved cylinder
2. Ducks pass shooting – full
3. Geese over decoy – modified choke or improved cylinder (if they’re coming in close)
4. Geese pass shooting – full
5. Teals – improved cylinder
6. Turkey – any full choke all the way down to .643 range
7. Coyotes – we like full, but we like the extra full (turkey chokes) even better

Keep in mind that HEVI-Shot® patterns from 88% – 92% out of a full choke. As for brand of choke tube we don’t recommend one over another but that are several that have been made with HEVI-Shot® in mind from companies like:

1. Tru-Glo
2. Pure Gold
3. Carlson’s Chokes
4. Primos
5. Mad Max
6. Briley

So I guess that not only is a extra-full turkey choke just fine, it's preferred.
