So...I know Galco and Fobus make some. No stores seem to carry these so I won't be able to try one out before I buy. I'm just going to have to order one online. Who makes the best ankle holster for a Glock 26?

The reason I need an ankle holster is that I wear a suit and tie every day - inside waistband is simply not an option for concealed carry for me. If you have options other than ankle holster, I'm willing to listen to them!

I could conceivably wear an OWB with my jacket over it but I will be taking off the gun in the parking garage before entering my office, and an ankle holster will be much easier to remove and place under the seat than an OWB. Also, if I am ever out and there's a breeze it could still be exposed.

The number one factor for me is comfort and having it not slip around! Also a low profile will be nice. Any special issues to watch out for with ankle holsters? Do they print really bad?

Thanks!

I cannot imagine a glock 26 would fit your "comfort" criteria in an ankle holster... seems like it would be pretty terrible actually. Just too damn wide. Your best bet would probably be a belly band of some sort... Not easily accessible, but far more comfortable than an ankle holster and no printing. If you are set on ankle carry, get another THINNER and LIGHTER gun.

Getting a new gun isn't really an option right now... Plus I LIKE the 26

As to cross draw - again, I don't want inside or outside on hip.

if you decide to stick to ankle carry and insist on the Glock, I imagine you will have a short future of bruised and irritated ankles. From what I have seen, inside of the ankle is the only way do ankle carry without it being obvious. The problem with that is the fact that with each step you will come really close to banging the gun into the inside of your other ankle... if you have never experienced this, try it... take one of your mags and tap it lightly on the inside of your ankle... IT HURTS!!!!... that leaves the outside of the ankle... concerned about wind making it obvious when carried OWB, same problem here... As I said, get a new gun or invest in a belly band or other undershirt variant.

I know you're opposed to waist-level carry, but years of experience and numerous holsters have taught me how much better this method of carry is. However, you might consider a shoulder rig, which can conceal quite well under a jacket, keeps the gun more accessible when seated, and if you buy the right one, can be fairly easily detached (just the holster portion) for when you must leave it in the car. Don't get a holster because it is cheap. You can waste a lot of money on "cheap" rigs.

I ankle carried a G27 for 2 years - have to watch what you wear but it works. Use a Galco Glove ankle holster. When I switched to a J frame 2 years ago - world of difference.

See...my off-work carry system is a $15 nylon IWB Blackhawk...works great for me then. The problem with IWB even if it's tuckable is that I have expensive, tailored pants and I cannot justify getting extra sets of pants tailored just those few extra inches more! Plus that would be uncomfortable for me in a suit.

Shoulder rig...hmm haven't thought of that. Makes me kind of nervous to think of a glock right next to my chest and vital organs! Are they just as safe to the user as other setups? Remember, I have to leave the gun in my car every day for work and that's a lot of handling, even if it stays in the holster. What brands would you recommend for shoulder rigs?

If I had my druthers I'd do OWB and just wear my jacket...but removing it in the car is the big obstacle there. I'd have to leave the holster on and just take the gun out, which is not safe to do every day IMO. Or, I'd have to remove my belt and take the holster off. Are there any OWB rigs (Galco etc.) that are removeable WITHOUT taking the belt off?

I daily carry my 26 owb with a galco holster . It's very comfortable and easily removed without unbuckling my belt . I used to carry in an ankle holster , but it became uncomfortable after 6 - 8 hours of carrying . Under armour has a undershirt with pockets built in that looks interesting , but I've never tried them. I daily carry my Glock 12-14 hours per day -every day and it has served me very well . Don't let the I've got a better idea crowd change you melon .

Paddle-style rigs can be good concealment for OWB that is quite easily removed once you get to your destination, and will still work with your tailored pants.
Shoulder rigs (I have limited experience in this area) can be comfortable, and here is an example of a rig with a detachable holster. I have not used this particular holster, so I'm not recommending it per se; I'm just trying to give you some alternatives to the ankle holster idea.

Oh, and in regards to a shoulder rig being safe...
The gun will not be pointing at your vital organs when holstered. And like any other kind of holster, you need to take care when drawing that you do not cover your person with the muzzle at any point (rule #2). The problem of course is not so much your safety with a draw stroke from beside your ribs, but rather those around you. There is the 180 degree sweep to bring your gun's muzzle around front for presentation, most of which your eyes will not be on the muzzle of the gun, nor looking in the direction the muzzle points. Rule 3 becomes imperative through your draw stroke.

This is the De Santis ankle holster for a G26 that works. I've used one for about 10 years. The G26 is blocky and not meant for aa ankle holster as well as a J frame or PPK but it is doable. Need some width in the pants leg. I'm not a big fan of ankle holsters but there are times they fit the bill.

I imagine you will have a short future of bruised and irritated ankles. From what I have seen, inside of the ankle is the only way do ankle carry without it being obvious. The problem with that is the fact that with each step you will come really close to banging the gun into the inside of your other ankle

I've used ankle holsters for about 35 years and what you say is true if you use a cheap one that flops around no matter what the size of the gun. Holsters like this will chafe the leg the holster is on and become painful. The one I recommended holds the gun tight to the leg, has proper padding, and can be worn all day with no issues if you put it on correctly.

Try a Fobus paddle holster(OWB) It's light comfortable and secure. At least it works well for my 26.

i know several peopel that carry 26's in ankle holsters everyday, and none of them have issues. i say go with the galco, fobus is garbage and i would advise that you stay away form thier holsters. IMHO the only thing that they make that i like and or would have now would be one of thier double magazine pouches. they are low profile and easy to conceal.
