I'm looking at getting a hoffner itp ultrux holster for a 4" gp100 (http://www.hoffners.com/min4a.jpg), I'm a fairly skinny guy with a 34" waist and I'm thinking this will improve the concealability of a 4" gp100.

Curious to hear opinions of this holster from those who have tried it.

IMHO, I had one and sent it back. Nothing against the manufacturer, but it did not work for me. The gun tended to lean away from my body and I did not like that. It is an interesting concept and looks great in the pic, but only by testing it myself was I able to find out if it would work. Your mileage may vary. Just my opinion after testing.

I have tested so many and have put out so much money it is not funny. Basically I have resorted to the Remora holster. It works and does not cost a kings ransom or have to wait 3 years for one.

I'm a skinny guy (30" waist and 5'9") with wide shoulders and CCW my 3" GP-100 late fall to early spring in that very same Hoffners rig (that or a Gov't-size 1911 and BHP in a Milt Sparks SS2). Sidenote: the Bulter Creek grips for the GP100 work well for CCW and help with recoil control (for me).

On topic, love my Hoffner's and it helped a co-worker start to carry his 3in SW 65 again. I waited 3wks for mine and he waited 4wks for his. YMMV.

Regards,
Lucky

I sometimes IWB carry a 4" 629 in a Hoffner's rig and it works great for me.

In the last pic, you can tell it's there if you're looking for it, but that's not bad for concealing a .44 Mag and 3 speed loaders.

I removed the rear belt loop, drilled a hole a bit lower down along the rear edge of the holster, and reinstalled the loop there. That spreads out the anchor points on the belt and gave it a slight forward cant. Easy 30 second modification.

Here are some pictures of the holster itself.

As I mentioned, since those pictuers were taken I've moved the rear belt loop back near the tension screw.
