I have a box of factory ammo, circa 1940's? Remington head stamp, 250 HP, this surely isn't a 250 Savage cartridge is it? I've looked several places, but no luck! Hope someone can help!

Pictures would help or at least a description. Rimmed or rimless? Diameter of the bullets? How is the box marked? What's the headstamp say? There's a 22 HP cartridge, but it's rimmed and .227 caliber.

Remington made (and still makes in small lots ) 250 Savage rounds. I've seen a similar thread about such Remington-UMC brass marked 250 HP. It was common through the early 50's.

Later brass was marker R-P .250 Sav.

Thanks Dr. Rob, the box was with some other ammo I'd gotten from my Pop, my grandpa had a .250 also, maybe this is where it came from. Appreciate your help!

Just another name for the .250 Savage, best known today as the parent case for the .22-250.
