I am looking at a buddies SW MP15 upper, which has the cast A2 front sight. I have a MP15TS, which has a nice full length free floating grip. His has the A2 sight and the short hand guard ( looks like my old Colt 6920LE). Is there any reason why I can't just push the gasblock off, and put a low profile gas block on, and then put whatever full length rail system on? Or am I stuck using the A2 shorty forearm? Thanks AR gurus!

You can shave the A2 FSB or drive the pins out and replace it. S&W FSBs are hard to get off. I removed the FSB on mine with a punch and big hammer. There will be slots in the barrel where they drilled for pins. If i were to do it again i would shave the FSB. Either way, some forends require you to temporarily remove the gas block.

yeah, see I would need to be able to cover over the FSB, simply because I like the full length forearms for running 3 guns, etc.... The short grips get old to me... Well, that might be easier... just go to town on that A2 sight with a dremel... ahhaha Thanks.
