WHat power, quality etc binocular would I need to see .223 holes in a target at 100 Yds?

I hate dragging a spotting scope out but my binocs don't cut it.
Is there anything in the $2-300 range that will do this or would it tale $1000 glass? Yup, for that I can drag the spotting scope out if needed....

IMO, I've pretty good results with even the cheap Chinese make binos that go up to 20X.

For simple range work in seeing where the holes are on the target, the Chinese binoculars will do. You know what the target is and its dimensions so you have a relatively good idea of the distances between the holes and the center of the target. Just a matter of seeing where they are. They certainly are not the clearest and sharpest binos out there but for what is described, they'll do. Plus they are inexpensive.

If, however, you do plan on using them for more detailed work like defining the features of birds or spotting game during a hunt, IMO, a more higher, better quality bino would probably be best. One with more clarity, sharpness, and low light pick-up. These will, of course, cost much more.
