Hello, I would like to have custom work done to a Smith & Wesson pistol if possible. I already called S&W and they said they don't have the tooling to do it.

I have a Smith & Wesson 659 that for sentimental reasons I will not sell. However, I can't shoot accurately. It has a serrated ramp as a front sight, as seen here:

I would LOVE to have a 3 dot sight setup. The model 5906 which replaced the 659 has a dovetailed front white dot on the slide, as the gun on this picture:

This is the front sight itself:

Does anyone know a reputable company that can do this? Novak sounded iffy when I called them.

That particular front sight won't work on a 2nd generation Smith. It is made to fir the 3rd gen raised sight pad. Novak used to offer a 2nd gen front sight, but I don't see it listed on their site. However, Brownells lists the Novak front as item # 662-645-075 to fit Colt Gov't and CDR, S&W 645/745/59 (.075" dovetail). Also item # 662-645-060 for the Colt OACP and S&W mini guns (669,469) (.060" dovetail). These are sight blanks that can be cut to your preferred height/profile and dot added if you want. Not sure why a different dovetail depth for full size/short slide S&Ws (makes sense on the Colt). You might ask Novak.
That would solve the front issue. The back is another story. I don't know of any dot blades to replace the one in your adjustable sight and installing a fixed of any kind would be a custom proposition given what's on there now. You could possibly find a blade and have dots added.
I stick with either one dot on the front only or a two dot straight 8 arrangement. Easier to line up for me.

Thank you so much for the information, I have already located a blade for my adjustable sight that has dots on it, brownells and midway offer it.

Our shop will do it. http://www.ahlmans.com/ Most gunsmiths should be able to do that work. Flatten and dovetail the integral front sight and install the new sight. The dovetail on the sight may be wider than the integral sight but it could be trimmed flush. Another popular option is to notch the integral sight and fill with some orange epoxy as seen on S&W revolvers.
