Hi I shoot revolvers that really like Federal primers. I need both small and large. Anyone know where I can get any? This is ridiculous, now that I have a little time, a little money, now I can't find the componets to reload. Boy oh boy. Thanks for the help, Mac

My local Gander Mountain was overflowing with Federal primers a week ago but no Remington's! :cuss: Anyway, if I were you, I'd see if you have one local and check there. It seems as if both Powder Valley and Graf's is out.

From what I've heard it's the war sucking up all the primers. If that's truly the case, I guess I'll struggle along as long as our troops have all the ammo they can shoot! :D

Hi I've heard all the so called reasons why we are having a primer shortage. First this is mostly hearsay. Federal doesn't regularly load ammo for the Gov't ie the war. Second you can find all the small rifle primers, say don't they use small rifle primers in a .223 M-16? Third I read where Federal was using all their primers in loaded ammo. Now you tell me which one is correct. BTW can you use small rifle primers in a .40S&W load? and if so how much to cut the powder. Thanks Mac, I'm thru whining now!!

Not under the Federal Cartridge label, anyway.

Federal is, however, owned and under the umbrella of its parent company ATK. ATK currently holds the primary US Military contract to produce ammunition (including small arms) for our US Armed Forces. This ammunition is produced at the Lake City facility, which is a gov't owned site but currently managed by Federal/ATK.

The Lake City ammunition plant has in the past been managed by not only Federal but also Remington and Winchester. Just depends on who owns the contract at which time.
