Need Help/ Advice!!!!!

Well back in December I went to Florida on a hog hunt with a guy I met on Archerytalk. It was simple, we paid a small fee and got to hunt his land. We absolutely loved it. So, we decided to plan another for spring break (I'm in college). We were all set to leave tomorrow, we have everything ready and everything. 45 or so minutes ago the guy texts me and says he has to cancel and doesn't really offer an explanation other than he can't do it. I have text and called him multiple times now and he won't answer or reply. I have no clue what to do. We have already made plans, got everything together, and a college friend has already driven four hours to meet us for the main drive tomorrow. Does anybody know any place whether its public land or whatever that holds hogs? Obviously we don't have time to scout or anything so if anyone could point us towards a place where we could hunt this week?
 
There is a small WMA just south of jacksonville before you get to st augustine. I dont remember the name but its infested with hog and i've taken many there (back in late 90's). Hope this helps.
 
thanks, the place we went to was actually right outside of jacksonville, I just don't know if i'm willing to drive 7 hours for gamelands because thats always a gamble, thanks for the idea though!
 
Cant speak for its current population but 10 years ago i never came home empty handed, that was all archery.
 
As far as I'm aware, all WMA hog (small game) seasons ended on March 3rd. The only other public land you could try would be riverbanks or tidal flats that are below the mean high water level. A boat is almost an absolute necessity for accessing these areas.
Take some waders/hip boots and rent a shallow-draft boat and cruise the shoreline of the coast (inland waterway) or large rivers at dusk to see if you can spot any hogs rooting in the shallows or rooting up oysters on spoil islands or the exposed shore at low tide.

This would not be a one-day deal unless you are VERY lucky. Scouting and the right tides would be necessary.
The other alternative would be to Google other hog hunting operations and contact them before leaving. This would be your only good chance of success IMO.
 
If you're in Western NC, you go right through gaffney sc on your way to Florida, tons of hogs there, but it would be a public land proposition there just like it would be in florida. Not much in the way of your typical spring break trip expectations though.
 
craigslist for hog hunts.

there are TONS of small hog hunts available all over the state.

try searching for two guys and hog.....they are a few more hours south, but there are plenty of other small farms to hunt on for a small price.
 
In most any public land area you are going to be hit and miss at finding hogs. they can seriously cover a lot of ground in a days time. With out some kind of feeder to keep hogs in a control area its a hard to say you will have a shot at getting one not knowing an area.
