I am going to buy one of these two Trijicon ACOG's, but do not know too much about them to make a informed decision. It is going to be about a week before I order one of them, but I would like to know which one would be the most useful in general terms. I don't shoot in any competitions or anything, but am looking for the most versatile.

I am looking at the TA11J: 3.5x35

or the TA31RMR: 4x32

I am going with the dual illuminated 9 MOA RMR's instead of the 4 MOA LED but these are the closest to what I am looking for. I just wanted the best all around optics that do not require batteries.

I am leaning towards the TA11, but am really open about either one of them. A friend said the TA11 was more versatile, but that's just one guys opinion. Realistically, I don't shoot more than 300yds, and more frequently its less then 200.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The advantage of the TA11 is that it has a larger exit pupil and more eye relief. It will be easier to get a sight picture through the scope in awkward positions and if you don't have a perfect cheek weld.

The TA31 is smaller, lighter, has more magnification and a larger field of view. I shoot nose-to-charging-handle (or at least within a half inch or so) with my AR and have no problems with the shorter eye relief. I find that the TA31 is still more forgiving than irons, but if you prefer to keep your head back farther or shoot a lot of rollover prone it could be a problem for you.

I haven't had a chance to play with a red dot mounted above the ACOG. If you practice with BAC and get comfortable with it, you'll find you can be very fast up close.

I agree with KW. The sight picture with the TA-11 is definitely easy to get and the eye relief is fantastic. I love mine.

Thanks guys, that was the one I was leaning towards. I just wanted to make sure I was not missing out on something spectacular that the TA31 had that the TA11 didn't. I was going to go with red fiber, but are there better options? I know its just opinion but I was wondering if some are provide better contrast than others.

Thanks for your input, very helpful.
