I finally ran into a good deal, I suspect anyway. Before I make the purchase, I need some help.

Local gun shop has a new series 70 in on a trade and is selling it for $599. It's supposed to be 6 weeks old. Looks like it's in great shape but the sights are not the 3 white dot ones. They are all black. No dots at all. Is this a transition model of some sort, sights changed, or is it older than 6 weeks. Apparently it was taken in on a trade from someone who likes to buy and sell. Might be my gain. Advice please..... I was looking to pick up a new one but this might be too good to pass on.

Two possibilities: (1) Colt just used different sights that were lying around when they made a new repro (stranger things have happened); (2) it's an older, actual Series 70. Even if you're opening door #2, if it really is new, you can't lose at that price.

Call them up and get the serial number prefix. I have one of the new release S70's and $599 would be a killer deal.

Does it look like this?

It's definately a series 70 repro but the all black sights threw me since all the other repros have seen had 3 white dot sights. THanks fo rthe replies.
