Need Help Dating a Remington Model 11

Just shoot it with heavier loads then. With a shorter barrel, you'll need it. Did you already shorten the barrel? You should be able to get away with just an accessory barrel instead of two guns. Maybe an extra recoil spring that's lighter as well.

FYI there is a ring you need to change position when you fire heavy vs. light loads. I've had a few different A5 type shotguns over the years and none ever had problems with light loads. Check Numrich for parts but I'm not sure if they have any springs left.

Having done this, it's actually the other way 'round. The shorter barrel has less mass (inertia), so the shotgun recoils mo' briskly than it would with a longer barrel. My 19" needs the rings set to the magnum setting to cycle 'normally' with field loads and reduced recoil buck loads. Full buck loads batter the poor thing terribly.

I have one I picked up cheap at the gun show. It had been shortened to riot configuration. The fore-arm did have the expected cracks. Since this gun has already been shortened, and I use it as a H/D and fun gun, I put a Ramline plastic fore-end made for the Auto 5 on it...dropped right on.
Those who say the Model 11 isn't a viable H/D weapon have obviously never fired one. I have rapid fired mine with buckshot, and had all five empties in the air simultaneously, which is a sight to see.

So do I still need to find another spring then? Is it the mainspring I need,.. or??? Please advise!!!

Will the Browning Auto 5 spring work on the Remington Model 11 if i had to go that route?

Thanks fellas!!
