Hey guys,
I recently got my service weapon the Cerakote treatment; basic camo pattern on the externals and Cerakote Elite on the inside of the upper receiver and the BCG.
I’m having some issues and was hoping to get some information on here (my armorers don’t seem to know).
The inside of the upper receiver, the charging handle, and the bolt carrier were all coated with Cerakote Elite, the new high-speed coating. However, before even firing the rifle the Cerakote was already wearing off just by charging the rifle. I’m literally wiping off the black Cerakote that is gumming up in the receiver. I had this rifle done at one of the best applicators on the west coast of the U.S that I chose very carefully since this is something I am going to be using downrange. Needless to say, I’m disappointed and looking at other options.
Originally wanted MicroSlick on the BCG and upper receiver interior, since I read that it penetrates into the metal substrate and has excellent properties and goes on virtually without added thickness. I think the “regular” Cerakote threw off tolerances between my BCG, charging handle, and upper receiver so it’s wearing more than the original OEM coating.
Does anyone have experience with microslick and if so, how has your experience been with it? I am probably going to ship the parts back in tomorrow to have them stripped and done in MS.
