For the second time, I took my S&W Model 340 PD Revolver (357) to the range, and for the second time, I was hit on the left side of my face with a sliver of metal to the point of which it drew blood! Good thing I wear safety glasses! During each event, I fired about 10 to 15 rounds and then I'd get hit with the sliver of metal. I believe it's called sheering? I am using proper ammo, no reloads or cheap ammo. What's going on!!!!
I don't even want to fire this thing any more!!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...............:(

It sounds like the timing is off, so a sliver of bullet shears off as it hits the barrel, spits out, and could conceivably blind you (w/o safety glasses, which you always wear!). The gun needs service before you shoot it again. How old is it, BTW?

Contact S&W Monday. They will pay shipping both ways and will fix it right, first time. Their Customer Service is legendary for a reason. Yes, I have used it, and it lives up to it's billing. :)

My next move will be to call S&W Monday morning and see what they say. Thanks for all your responses guys. You have been very supportive and helpful.

It may be that the factory shipped another revolver with out the forcing cone machined in the barrel. It has been known to happen and I have a 25-2 that didn't have it.
It would be interesting to know what the problem is and it's fix.
