I've been using Google Image all morning, but not finding exactly what I need.

They have started the cover art for the Baen version of Monster Hunter International. The artist wants to keep the guns as realistic as possible. (considering my audience, that's a really good idea). For those of you that read my book, they're using a scene from the freighter.

So I'm looking for some very specific gun pictures so that the artist can get them correct. I don't give my characters the exact same guns I actually own, because otherwise this would be easy. :p

I've found some that are close, but not quite right. I'm also looking for photos at different angles. I'm not sure how the artist is going to structure it. I also don't even know if I can say who the artist is, because I'm new at this whole being an actual writer kind of thing. He's really good though, and if you read fantasy or sci-fi, you've seen his work. I'm pretty excited.

I'm looking for links for:

-Remington 870, 18", 2 shot extension, side saddle, butt cuff, XS sights, ghost ring rear, Surefire flashlight. (main character's gun, so it got real specific)

-M14 with a Trijicon ACOG. (luckily never specified what kind of stock it had, or barrel length)

There are also suppressed UMPs, a Tommy Gun, and a Marlin 45-70. Luckily those were never given specific details, so probably won't really come up)

Sounds like you have an excuse to buy those in exactly that configuration. Hey, you've got a bestseller on your hands, right? surely you can splurge!

Well, I've got a bunch of 870s, but none with the Surefire and side saddle and buttcuff. I've found some of those online, but haven't gotten anything quite right yet. At least not one with the side saddle and buttcuff.

I've got a couple of M14s in the shop, but nothing with scope mounts. You would think that somewhere on the internet I could find an M14 with an ACOG, but I've found them with every other kind of scope, but no ACOG.

Abomination still doesn't exist yet. Yet. :)

I've pulled up some Youtube videos for perspective too, but it doesn't help that the main character is physically a mutant, so an 870 looks like a toy on him.

But then again, I can't get too picky. I'm just glad that they're not going to have laser guns and the girls chainmail wearing bikinis. :p (not that I have anything against laser guns and chainmail bikinis mind you)

I've been to one. I remember telling my daughters over and over and over again that they were never allowed to dress like that...

Man, I've been looking for an hour. Nobody sticks ACOGs on M14s anymore. :p

And I'm now committed to making some Youtube videos. If you're looking for "rapid fire" or "fast" in context with a pump shotgun... jeez... is that what people think is fast? There's a couple of guys on there with a clue, but everybody else's idea of fast would get you dead last in a 3gun match.

VIDEO TITLED: HOW FAST YOU CAN SHOOT A PUMP SHOTGUN: BANG pause for flinch, adjust grip, total lack of cheek weld, pump, BANG flinch dramatic pause, pump, BANG

They should have the cover art be the swamp battle. It's very kinetic and showcases the characters.

Larry,
I have a picture from the early days in Afghanistan of an 82d Airborne trooper carrying an ACOG equipped M14 on patrol. Would that help?

Or, I could take the ACOG off my AR DMR clone and put it on my M1A and take a picture for you.

Jeff

Jeff, don't go through too much trouble. I think I've found enough online to be okay. Jorg found some pics of soliders with ACOGed M14s for me a little while ago.

Thanks guys.

I was told that the artist read the book, loved it, and really wants to do the ship. I'm down with that.
