Picked up a nice stock the other day and it had been treated with BLO and renaissance wax. I don't like the sticky feel of the wax and want to remove it. Any suggestions on a safe way to remove Renaissance wax?

Tnx,
Vic

I would say to dunk in a bath of Mineral Spirits as being best but wiping would be better since the cost has gone through the roof and unless you have a large enough container to keep it in. I have found that stainless steel steam table pans, the large deep ones, work for lots of stuff, sorting brass from media, parkerizing bath cookers, degreasing, etc

Denatured alcohol would also likely cut the wax. If it's sticky, you either put way too much on and/or didn't buff it out sufficiently (which should still be an option).

Thanks guys, I also got an email back from the folks who make RenWax. They recommend white spirits, and said the BLO is likely the suspect cause of the tacky feeling.

Not the likely suspect, it has been Tried & Convected.

Boiled Linseed Oil takes forever to dry completely tack free.

Renaissance wax is not sticky or tacky, even before you buff it off.
